AORN OF GREATER CLEVELAND
CHAPTER MEETING
MARCH 16,2011




The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by president Sherry Petryszyn with a quorum present.A warm welcome was
given to the visitors and members in attendance.
The visitors were introduced and present were students of the Nurse Residence Program from the Cleveland Clinic.
The minutes were read and approved by motion of G.Sarratt and a second from B.Bonus.
The treasurer's report was given.Amount in the treasury $24,674.42.

President's announcements

S.Petryszyn will be a peri-op instructor at the Cleveland Clinic.
There are webinar's that will be available on the internet to our members such as Evidence Based Practice.
There will be a mega meeting at N.Fellows home on 04/16/11 at 9:00am.
The next meeting will be on April 13,2011 because of Holy week.
Judy Seltzer will be taking the delegates out to dinner who responded to Sherrys' e-mail.
Non-delegates can vote online until April 23,2011.(This is a new option for non-delegates.)

Committee Reports:
Communication/L.Bowen-The newsletter will be done at N.Fellows home on March 26,2011 at 10 am.

Hospitality/C.Keiser-John Farneth of RF Surgical Systems,Inc. provided the dinner for this evening.

Fund Raising/N.Fellows suggested giving a jewelry party by Premiere in combination with possibly the Tea.
C.Keiser suggested doing a non event/event fund raiser.Both suggestions will be discussed in furthur detail at future
meetings.
Q.Brooks,donated the 2011 Perioperative Standards and Reccommended Practices for a raffle at the June installation
meeting.

Legislature/P.Chapek-The Ohio Council February meeting was cancelled due to the winter storm.The next meeting will
be on June 11,2011.
The dinner for Ohio Council members at Congress will be on Tuesday evening.Delegates can give their money for the
dinner to Clare Keiser.

Membership/L.Bowen-Presently we have 508 members which includes 32 new members from Cleveland Clinic.

Outreach/L.Gronowski -Behind the OR Doors may be in two parts this year.Mary Kay Kelly is planning to do a Behind
the OR Door at the Fairview Surgery Center on the opposite weekend from the one that will be done in
Beachwood.Laurie will advise when those dates will be as soon as those dates are co-ordinated.
T.Brown-The career day for Emile de Sauze will be on May 11,2011.

Bylaws & Policy/L.Bowen-A meeting will be held after Congress.

Education/T.Washington-Mike Von Glahn will present at the April 13,2011 meeting on Hypothermia/OR Solutions. 1
CEU  and dinner will be provided.In May we will have a presentation by Agripina Deleon on Philippines Medical Mission
"Mission Possible."
The education committee will meet prior to the Mega meeting.

Scholarship/N.Fellows-Forms are available to apply for the two scholarships which are the C.Joan Gowin,and the
Christine Allen and Dona Martin Laing.Each scholarship is for $500.00. The scholarships are to furthur education.

Old Business/none

New Business/G.Sarratt has a request from Hillcrest Hospital to make hats for the neonates.Geneva handed out
instructions for knitting the caps to those interested in making the caps.
There will be a review for the CNOR on May 14,2011 at the Cleveland Clinic.The cost is $25.00 and will cover parking
and materials.
P.Deleon announced a community health fair at the Philipino Cultural Center in Parma on W.Ridgewood Dr. on April
09,2011.
S.Petryszyn asked for prayer for those affected by the earthquake and tsuami in Japan.Prayer was offered by
G.Sarratt.
