Membership Meeting Minutes of AORN Greater Cleveland Chapter
Ursuline College

President Laurie Gronowski called the meeting to order at 1900.  We have a quorum.   A motion to accept the
September, 2011 membership meeting minutes with the following corrections: under Outreachthe diapers were
donated to WomensSafe; Old Business the chapter Bylaws were accepted as presented.    Clare Keiser moved and
Barbara Bonus seconded.  The motion was accepted and those present approved the minutes.


Treasurer’s Report:
Report deferred to next month due to illness of   Diane Klak.
Membership:
Linda Bowen reported that we have approximately 476 chapter members.  A warm welcome was extended to our new
members:  Kathy Kleinhenz, Avon Premiere Surgery Center; Lorrie Lewarsky
Committee Reports:  
Education:
Our CE program for tonight on Robotic Surgery is provided by Ryan Berglund, MD of the Cleveland Clinic. We also
had a presentation on Electrosurgical Unit presented by Megadyne’s Gerry Bober and Jeff Speidel which included
dinner.  Our program for November is on Surgical Site Infection with Judy Seltzer.  If anyone has any suggestions for
educational programs for next year, please see Teresa Washington or a member of the educational committee.
Fund Raising:
Clare Keiser reported that 11 cookbooks were sold at the August 20, 2011 Flea Market Event.  Nancy Fellows
reviewed the upcoming Premier Jewelry sale event October 22, 2011at 1PM which will be held at Nancy’s house and a
light lunch will be provided.  Please invite guest and outside orders will be accepted. Robin (the sales person) makes
50% of the sale and she will donate 20% of her profit to our chapter.  Laurie Gronowski discussed the Wine Tasting
Event April 14 2012 from 6PM – 8PM in Chesterland at Colonial Beverage.        
Legislative:
Patty Chapek asked that we write letters to our Legislator explaining the value of a Nurse Circulators for every
surgery, every time.  Our next Ohio Council Meeting will take place on December 10, 2011 at Hunan House at 12
noon.  Please bring a gift to exchange if you plan on attending.  This will be our last holiday gift exchange.  Please
respond to the email if you plan to attend when it arrives.   
Communication:
Sherry Petryszyn reported that our last paper newsletter will be in December 2011.  Starting January 2012 all
newsletters will be web site only.  Please let Linda Bowen or Sherry Petruszyn know if this is a problem for you.         
    Outreach:  
Laurie Gronowski reported on “Behind the Operating Room Doors” would take place at two sites this year on the east
side, .November 5, 2011 at the Beachwood Surgery Ambulatory Surgery Center located at 26900 Cedar Road from
8AM-12N.  Volunteers should arrive at 7AM to make the gift bags.  On the west side it will take place at the Fairview
Ambulatory Surgery Center on November 12, 2011 from 8AM-12N.  Mentor HS Career Exploration will take place
10/20/11.  Nancy Fellow’s reported that 9 nursing schools in Cuyahoga County were contacted with information on our
senior nursing student scholarship program.
Old Business:
The Mega Meeting will take place on October 22, 2011 at 10AM prior to the Premier Jewelry sale at Nancy’s house.  
The Chapter Award is being prepared by Julie Cahn.  Please help her by providing photos from chapter events.  
Geneva Sarratt reported on the annual meeting at Women Safe in Geauga County.  They wanted to personally thank
us for the diapers and school supplies we donated to the women’s center.  Clare Keiser, Veronica Lenin and Laurie
Gronowski also attended.  Patty Chapek and Linda Bowen reviewed the formula that our chapter follows to donate to
the AORN Foundation.  We usually give 1$ per member.  This will be discussed at a later date.  The money is due
2012 January to June.  Cindy Tucker discussed dates we can volunteer to sort surgical instruments at Med Wish
11/19, 12/3, 12/17.  Our contact person is Angieagermano@medwish.com .  Their address is 17325 Euclid Ave;
Cleveland, Ohio 44112.  Tonight all point sheets should be returned to Linda Bowen for consideration as a delegate
for Congress 2012.


Laurie Gronowski asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting, it was moved by Geneva Sarratt and seconded by
Sherry Petryszyn.  Motion carried.
