Membership Meeting Minutes of AORN Greater Cleveland Chapter

September 21, 2011
President Laurie Gronowski called the meeting to order at 1907. We have a quorum. A motion to accept the June,
2011 membership meeting minutes was made by Clare Keiser and seconded by Linda Bowen. The motion was
accepted and those present approved the minutes.
Officer Installation: Diana Brown-Brumfield member on the Board of Directors and Judy Greig and Veronica Lenin
members to the Nominating Committee were installed into their new positions. Officiate by Linda Bowen, Vice President.
Treasurer’s Report:
Reported by Diane Klak as of September 20, 2011 the balance is $18,190.66. Our current expenses for the fiscal year,
is $23,000. This includes delegate allocation for 16 delegates $12,000. Outreach $400. We have two sites this year
for the Behind OR Doors Program. This year we will not purchase Perioperative Nurses Week Posters which will save
us $50. The reason: many facilities would not allow the staff to hang the posters.
Membership:
Linda Bowen reported that we have approximately 476 chapter members.
Committee Reports:
Education:
Our CE program for tonight on Acupuncture is provided by Zhongmin Mao, L.Ac. from The Lu-Jean Feng Clinic. We
also had a presentation on OR Suite Sterilization presented by a Johnson & Johnson Partner which included dinner.
Our program for October is on Robotic Surgery presented by Dr. Burgland of the Cleveland Clinic. If anyone has any
suggestions for educational programs for next year, please see a member of the educational committee.
Fund Raising:
Clare Keiser reported that 11 cookbooks were sold at the August 20, 2011 Flea Market Event. Nancy Fellows reviewed
the upcoming Premier Jewelry sale event October 22, 2011at 1PM which will be held at Nancy’s house and a light lunch
will be provided. Please invite guest and outside orders will be accepted. Laurie Gronowski discussed the Wine Tasting
Event April 14 2012 from 6PM – 8PM in Chesterland at Colonial Beverage.
Legislative:
Linda Bowen reported on the September 10, 2011 Ohio Council Meeting. The Bylaw changes were voted on and
approved at Ohio Council. Judy Greig moved and Clare Keiser seconded that we approve the Bylaws as presented.
Motion carried.
Communication:
Sherry Petryszyn reported that our last paper newsletter will be in December 2011. Starting January 2012 all
newsletters will be web site only. Please let Linda Bowen or Sherry Petruszyn know if this is a problem for you.
Outreach:
Laurie Gronowski reported on “Behind the Operating Room Doors” would take place at two sites this year on the east
side, .November 5, 2011 at the Beachwood Surgery Ambulatory Surgery Center located at 26900 Cedar Road from
8AM-12N. On the west side it will take place at the Fairview Ambulatory Surgery Center on November 12, 2011 from
8AM-12N. Mentor HS Career Day will take place 10/20/11.
Old Business:
Thank you from WomenSafe in Geauga County for the diapers we donated to their women’s center. We also received
a thank you note from Patty Chapek for the scholarship she received. We regret the passing of Diana Brown-Brumfield
husband Willie and Sherry Petryszyn father; we sent our condolences to the families.
New Business:
Cindy Tucker discussed the changes in Med Wish donation requirements. As of 9/30/11 they will no longer accept
expired goods. They currently need volunteers to sort surgical instruments, the following dates are available for you to
volunteer: 9/24, 10/1, 10/15, 11/5, 12/3, 12/17/11.
The PNAO (Philippines Nurses Association of Ohio) is having a Masquerade Ball on October 29, 2011 at the
Beachwood Hilton 6PM Cocktails, 7PM dinner, cost $45. Please see Pina DeLeon for additional information.
Linda Bowen handed out the point sheets for delegate selection. Please return these back to her by our Oct 19,
meeting for consideration as a 2012 Congress delegate.
Laurie Gronowski asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting, it was moved by Patty Chapek and seconded by Clare
Keiser. Motion carried.
